Ram Lal Anand College was founded in 1964 by Shri Ram Lal Anand, an eminent lawyer of the Indian Supreme Court. The college became a constituent college of the University of Delhi in 1973. the college is a site of modern education and skill training for its students. the college has a multi disciplinary approach to education and provides courses in Arts, Humanities, Commerce and Science to both men and women. There are approximately 1350 students enrolled in various courses. Ram Lal Anand College is also known for its supportive environment for both women as well as ST/SC groups.
Location- the College is situated in the neighbourhood of the South Campus of the Delhi University and is close to Vekkateshwara College and IISM. The college students enjoy the best of South Delhi to hang out and are connected to the campus by frequent buses and campus life line, autos.
Laboratories-The College has modern laboratories with cutting edge tools for courses such as Microbiology, Statistics, and Computer Science.
Other infrastructural assets of the college involve a big auditorium and seminar rooms to encourage students to organize lectures and seminars and to incorporate communication and presentation skills. The college also has a vast expanse of 10 acres of lawns and sports ground.
Spic Macay Chapter- the college has seen the best of the artistic world through performances by eminent dancers and musicians one of them being Bharat Ratna, Ustad Bismillah Khan. The college continues to be a host and a patron of art and culture and brings a vibrant life to the campus life.
Red Cross Society- the college had its own Red Cross society where it is linked back to the international Red Cross Society and carries out tasks to organize blood donation camps in the campus.
Societies- the college has various societies of different courses and extra curricular activities giving it an exuberant life to all its students. these include- Commerce Society, English literary Association, Economics Society, Hindi Society , Political Science Society, History Society, Microbiologica, Statistics Society, Computer Society, Geology Society, Media Society, Photography and Painting Club and Magazine Committee.
Women Welfare Advisory Board- is one of its kind. It is headed by senior woman member of the teaching staff who provides counselling to the women students vis- a- vis their difficulties in the area of personal or professional life which have an impact on their academic performance and well being.
Courses offered in Ramlal Anand College
For admission in any Bachelor program in the college a candidate is expected to have passed Senior School Certificate Examination (Class 12) of CBSE or any equivalent recognized examination. The candidate must have passed in four subjects (one language and three elective subjects) as best four subjects and must have pass marks in at least five subjects- one language and four elective subjects.
Important dates for the admission Procedures
The forms and prospectus are available from 1st to 15th June every year. Candidates applying for admission in B.A.(Hons.) English need to appear in a written entrance test. The college gives 60% weightage to the candidate's CBSE (Class 12) marks and 40% weightage to the admission score. To know the date of entrance and its results, the college office can be contacted.
